Tee Time & Good Times: Guide’s Annual Golf Tournament Returns

Tee Time & Good Times: Guide’s Annual Golf Tournament Returns

Farmers’ markets, concerts in the park, weekend road trips, and Rockies games. We’re heading into the dog days of summer, and that can only mean one thing - Guide’s annual golf tournament is just around the corner.

If you’ve attended it yourself or seen our social media posts, you know it’s a day of fun and friends, all in the name of raising money and doing good in our community.

Let us paint the picture. The sun is just about setting over the horizon, and guests sip their coffee as they drive (or Uber) over to the golf course. It’s early, but our team and guests are full of smiles and anticipation for the day ahead. People arrive one at a time, and then all at once. We quickly find out who the morning people are, and who are not. Many of us show up in bundled outfits: sweatshirts, pants, and blankets, with the morning chill still in the air. Quickly though, layers get shed as the sun peeks out and Colorado's familiar heat hits us. Guests are grabbing Bloody Marys from the bar and beers from the beverage cart girl. Some stick to caffeine, while others triple fist with a coffee, beer, and water. Music plays in the background, and there’s an excited energy as people walk through the cart lines and find their own. Our team welcomes guests, lays out the day, and blares the horn to signal that the scramble has begun. Everyone guns it to their respective hole, and the competition is officially on.

What began as a celebration for our founder Bret Weinstein’s birthday complete with party hats, a luncheon, and all of our agents, has become one of Guide’s most signature client events to date. It’s seen a lot over the past six years, from temperature checks during COVID-19 to Bloody Mary and cigar bars, to a $1 million hole-in-one competition. Each year gets bigger and better.

With around 144 golfers, more than 11 sponsors, raffle prizes like Airbnb stays in the mountains and Yeti coolers, and over $12k raised annually, we’re not only having fun - we’re raising money for an awesome cause.

Partnering with Colorado Under Par allows us to coordinate this huge tournament while juggling our other event planning. They’re the magic behind the curtain, making sure every detail runs flawlessly from pre-tournament prep to post-event wrap up. We’ve partnered with them for years, and we couldn’t do it without them.

One highlight of our event is the “Hole Hecklers," two comedians who sit at a hole (usually the 9th) and poke fun at those brave enough to let them. You can forgo the heckling, but it’ll cost you. For a small donation that goes directly to our charity, you can remain off-limits. Whether it’s a joke about your short pants and the flood or your less-than-impressive shot, the Hole Hecklers are all in good fun and remain one of the most entertaining parts of the tournament.

Each year, we partner with a new charity. In 2025, we’re proud to support CO1000.org, a network of business professionals committed to giving 100% of donations directly to Colorado-based charities. Through engaging events and meaningful connections, they’re building stronger communities across the state. To help us raise money, we’ll be selling raffle tickets, mulligans, cannon shots, and more.

Interested in joining us or getting involved? We’re still on the lookout for sponsors, golfers (foursomes or individuals), volunteers, and raffle donors. If you’re interested in joining us, RSVP here.
